Dental Veneers

A veneer is a thin shell of ceramic bonded to the front of a tooth. Done well, it is invisible: the shade, translucency and contour match the teeth around it. We fit two kinds, Emax and feldspathic, and which one suits you depends on the tooth being treated.

What veneers fix

Veneers handle the problems whitening cannot: a tooth darkened by an old root treatment, a chip on a front tooth, gaps, mild crowding, or enamel that has worn thin. One veneer can rescue a single discoloured tooth. A full set can rebuild a smile.

Emax veneers are milled from lithium disilicate, a ceramic strong enough that the shell can be very thin, which means less drilling of your natural tooth. Feldspathic veneers are layered by hand from traditional porcelain and give the ceramist the finest control over translucency. Your dentist will recommend one or the other case by case, and sometimes both in the same mouth.

The fitting process

  1. 01

    Consultation and planning

We assess whether veneers are the right fix, agree the shade and shape, and choose the material.

  2. 02

    Preparation and impressions

A light reshaping of the tooth surface, then precise impressions that go to the ceramist.

  3. 03

    Temporary veneers

You wear temporaries while your permanent veneers are crafted, so you are never left mid-treatment.

  4. 04

    Bonding and finish

The veneers are bonded, checked against your bite and polished. Small adjustments happen in the same visit.

Keeping them perfect

  • Brush and floss as you would natural teeth.
  • Keep up regular checkups and cleans.
  • Do not open packaging or bite hard objects with veneered teeth.
  • If you grind at night, wear the nightguard we make for you.

Dental Veneers: your questions, answered

How many visits do veneers take?

Usually three. The first is the consultation and planning visit, the second covers preparation and impressions with temporaries fitted, and the third is the bonding of your finished veneers. The whole process typically runs over two to three weeks.

Do veneers damage your natural teeth?

Modern veneers need only a thin surface layer of enamel removed, and with Emax the preparation is sometimes barely more than a polish. The tooth underneath stays alive and healthy. What matters is case selection, which is exactly what the consultation is for.

Emax or feldspathic veneers, which is better?

Neither is better across the board. Emax is stronger and suits teeth that take biting load. Feldspathic is layered by hand and gives the most lifelike translucency on front teeth. Many full cases use both, and your dentist will recommend per tooth.

How long do veneers last?

A well-bonded porcelain veneer routinely serves for a decade or more. The care rules are ordinary: brush, floss, keep your checkups, and wear a nightguard if you grind.

Bring the tooth that bothers you to a consultation and we will tell you honestly whether it needs a veneer, a whitening session or nothing at all.
