Dental Implants
A missing tooth is more than a gap in a photograph. The bone beneath it starts to recede, neighbouring teeth drift, and chewing shifts to one side. An implant stops all of that: a titanium post takes the place of the root, and a custom crown takes the place of the tooth.
How an implant works
The implant itself is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone where the root used to be. Over a few months the bone fuses to the titanium, a process called osseointegration, which gives the new tooth a foundation as solid as the original. A crown, matched to your neighbouring teeth, is then fixed on top.
Implant cases at our clinic are led by Dr. Faris Alkhanafseh, who earned his implantology certification from the University of Toronto. Placement is planned on digital imaging beforehand, so the surgery itself is short and precise.

Dental Implants: your questions, answered
How long does a dental implant take from start to finish?
Typically three to six months. The surgical visit itself is short, but the bone needs a few months to fuse to the titanium post before the final crown goes on. You are never left with a visible gap; temporary options cover the healing period where needed.
Does dental implant surgery hurt?
The placement is done under local anaesthetic and most patients describe it as easier than expected, closer to a filling than to an extraction. A few days of mild soreness afterwards is normal and manageable with ordinary painkillers.
Am I suitable for a dental implant?
Most healthy adults with a missing tooth are. What we check is bone volume at the site, gum health and a few medical factors. The assessment at our Al Qusais clinic includes imaging, and Dr. Faris Alkhanafseh, our certified implantologist, gives you a straight answer either way.
How long do dental implants last?
Decades, routinely. The titanium post can last a lifetime once integrated; the crown on top may need replacing after many years of wear. The main threat is gum disease around the implant, which regular hygiene visits prevent.
